The third of the bright fortnight of Magha, kept for Gauri, and in Kashmiri Pandit houses a day for the women of the family. Gauri is worshipped as the bride and as the giver of a married life, and the unmarried girls of the house keep it for a good match. It falls in the coldest fortnight of the year, and the offering is accordingly the dried and stored food of a Kashmiri winter rather than anything fresh.
