The resurrection, the oldest and the greatest of the Christian festivals, kept with a vigil through the Saturday night into the Sunday morning. The new fire is lit outside the church and the paschal candle carried in, and the forty days of Lent end with the first mass. Being a Sunday it closes nothing that is not already shut, so it is not itself a gazetted holiday in India, though Good Friday two days before is.
